Plankwright started with a frustration. Too many homeowners were being sold the priciest floor on the wall instead of the right floor for their house, and too many installs were being rushed by crews who would never see the home again. We opened a showroom on Kingston Pike with a simple idea: let people touch and compare the real materials, explain the honest trade-offs, and then stand behind the install with our own crew.
That means we would rather talk you out of solid hardwood in a basement than sell it to you and watch it cup a year later. It means the wear layer of a vinyl plank and the moisture reading of your slab are part of the conversation, not fine print. And it means the person who measures your home is the same team that finishes the last baseboard, accountable start to finish.
Today we fit hardwood, luxury vinyl, tile, and carpet, and we bring tired floors back to life with dustless refinishing. Interior designers send us their clients because our pricing is transparent and our corners are clean. But the part we are proudest of is the number of projects that start with a homeowner walking in unsure and leaving with a floor they actually understand.

What we stand on
We would rather you understand the trade-offs and pick the right floor than sign today. An informed homeowner is a happy client and a referral.
Our own installers do the work, not a rotating cast of subcontractors. The person who measures your home is accountable for how it turns out.
Clear per-square-foot bands with installation included, so you can budget honestly from the first conversation instead of decoding a vague estimate.
Dustless sanding, protected furniture, and clean transitions. We treat every corner like it is our own home, because word of mouth is our whole business.
The crew
A small team, on purpose. You will get to know the same faces from the showroom to the final walkthrough.

Ray has been fitting Knoxville floors for over fifteen years and still runs a crew on most installs. He started Plankwright on the belief that an educated homeowner makes the best decision, and that a floor should be sold from the subfloor up, not from a price tag down.
Dana runs the showroom floor and the sample library. She is the one who will lay LVP and real oak side by side, talk you through wear layers and grout colors, and gently steer you away from the wrong choice for your room.
Marcus handles the in-home measures, reading subfloors and squaring numbers so the quote you get is the price you pay. He would rather find a problem at the measure than have it surface mid-install.
Skip the big-box guesswork. Visit the Kingston Pike showroom or book a free in-home measure and see how the right material changes a room.
